Jan 19, 2012. 05:17AdministratorThankyou! Hope you find it a useful resource.
Jan 18, 2012. 18:38pawn18051953very good site
Nov 14, 2011. 04:04AdministratorYes that seems quite achievable. Can't promise anything immediately but we'll look into how to this can be shoe horned in....
Nov 13, 2011. 18:45aoxomoxoaIt would be easy to simply ask something like: White to move, who is better. I am thinking of positions with equal material. To make the puzzle a positional ( and not tactical or strong dependend to a single move ) puzzle i suggest pv1-pv3 should be "all positiv" or "all negative" and the value should be between 0.2 and 1 pawns.
The rest would be like tactic puzzles.

There is no! positional training tool in the net but several tactical server
Nov 12, 2011. 10:53AdministratorInteresting idea. What would be the goal in these positions :- would you still be selecting the best/good moves?? Or would the task to be assess which side is 'better', 'winning' or 'even'?
Nov 12, 2011. 05:39aoxomoxoaThere are a lot of tactic servers but there is nothing for "not tactical" positions. I think there is a big need for a server of non tactical positions. It would be already ok to let the user judge who is better.

Endgames Updated:
-------------------

- Search improvements: Faster move gen & some extra pruning should mean the computer plays a little better than before.

- BugFix: Many thanks to MrPawn for reporting the somewhat random pinned kings issue. Haven't been able to reproduce this with the update, touch wood this is now fixed.
Apr 13, 2011. 11:11BetaTesterWe've had a thorough check but unfortunately haven't been able to re-create the problem. Attackers #49150 looks fine, and no amount of playing this end has been able to find a problem with switching sides. Have you experienced the problem since?
Apr 12, 2011. 16:57AdministratorThanks arkledale. We'll get digging and see what we can find. Cheers.
Apr 9, 2011. 22:00arkledaleI received attackers problem #49150 with the board orientation indicator upside down, which meant that I couldn't solve the problem. Eventually I realised that the algebraic coordinates didn't match the orientation indicator. There must be a bug somewhere.
Feb 15, 2011. 11:13AdministratorBuon giorno bloomgab. Thankyou and glad you enjoy the site!
Feb 10, 2011. 04:40bloomgabhello Admin. this web is ok. ciao. bloomgab
Oct 24, 2010. 09:41AdministratorAdded custom endgames!

Custom:
-----------------
You can now play a position of your choice - you'll need the FEN notation for the position, and then Copy & Paste it into the form to play it.
Oct 24, 2010. 07:40AdministratorAdded some endgames. Enjoy!

Intermediate:
-----------------
4 v 3 Pawns: Good for double winged endings
Minor piece + 2 pawns v Minor Piece: A winning endgame, but all too easy to slip-up and give a draw away.

Advanced:
-------------
Queen v Two minor pieces: Difficult, but normally a win can be attained if certain defensive positions cannot be reached in time.
Oct 21, 2010. 05:32AdministratorIts been hard work, but we are very pleased to have finally released our endgame training section. We hope you enjoy it very much!

Again, feedback or suggested improvements on this would be gratefully received and we'll see what we can achieve.

We would also love to hear from you if there are some endgame scenarios you would like to see.
Jul 28, 2010. 09:48AdministratorMade a small adjustment to viewing Classic Games. The result of the game is now shown at the end of the list of moves.

Thanks steff29 to for highlighting the possible confusion when some games have been resigned on the winning opponents turn.
